Audience and focus

Defence Matters covers European defence and security policy, NATO and EU developments, national armed forces, procurement and industry, cyber and hybrid threats, defence technology, and operational reporting. Advertising is offered to reach readers interested in these subject areas.

Advertising formats

We offer banner placements sold directly by Defence Matters. Common formats can include:

  • leaderboard banners (top of page)

  • sidebar banners

  • in-content banners

  • footer banners

Availability depends on page templates and device layout. If you have a preferred format, include it in your enquiry.

Placement options

Campaigns can be booked across:

  • site-wide inventory, or

  • selected sections (for example Europe, Industry, Technology, Cyber, The War Zone)

Where placement is section-specific, the banner will appear on pages within the selected sections, subject to inventory and technical constraints.

Campaign duration and delivery

Direct-sold campaigns are typically booked by:

  • fixed dates (start/end), and/or

  • an agreed number of impressions (where impression counting is enabled)

If required, we can provide basic reporting such as impressions and clicks.

Creative specifications

To place a banner, provide:

  • final creative files (image or HTML, depending on what you supply)

  • destination URL

  • campaign dates

  • any restrictions (for example, section exclusions)

If you need guidance on sizes used on the site, request the media pack.

Editorial independence

Advertising does not influence editorial coverage, topic selection, or publication decisions. Advertising is presented as advertising.

Content restrictions

We may decline advertising that is unlawful, misleading, defamatory, or inconsistent with the Website’s operational requirements. We also reserve the right to reject creatives that materially degrade site performance or compromise security.
